Website and Application Portfolio
Please read about several of our past development projects. Because the majority of our projects are private applications and due to non-disclosure agreements we can only provide a small representative set of examples. We encourage and recommend a free consultation as the best assessment of our ability to serve you.
AfricanMP3s.com (Not Yet Launched)
AfricanMP3s.com is an online music purchase and download site for music created or performed by Africans. It features PayPal Website Payments Pro and Express integration, MP3 storage in the database for download restriction and tracking for upsell recommendations. The web-based administrative application allows entry of artist, album and track information, accepts web uploads of music files, displays purchase and view information and allows administrators to give customers access to re-download past purchases. The was a LAMP project using mod_rewrite for SEO friendly URLs.

MyBestFareFinder.com
MyBestFareFinder.com is a new service with a purpose to bring the lowest cruise fares to consumers by allowing agents to compete for business by responding to quote requests. This website was designed and coded by an offshore company. When time for launch drew close, we were contacted to complete and correct features, to make English language corrections and to provide tutelage on running the site and in making basic changes. This is a LAMP site making extensive use of the Zend Framework and the Smarty templating engine.

Atlanta Limo Service
Atlanta Airport Transportation and Limousine Service was in search of solutions to reduce page abandonment and increase conversions. One method identified was to provide a rate calculator that would provide instant quotes using the website by simple entry of the destination or pick-up zip code. The resulting application uses "Windows look-and-feel" graphics to present the tool to the user. On the back-end administrative panel, each zip code may be provided its own mileage rate and customized discount. Later, we were commissioned with the entire design of the limousine service website, shown here.

Virtual Cafés (In Progress)
The Virtual Cafés project originally integrated an ASP.NET/MSSQL website with a Java client-server application which acts as a specialized text-based "chat" environment implementing online versions of World Cafe and Conversation Cafe. Mid-development, architecture decisions changed and the work was ported to PHP/MySQL. The XHTML/CSS website design is intentionally clean and straight-forward, simply directing users to chats facilitated by the Java application.
ShannaSells.Com
ShannaSells.com was created by a local designer who maintains a service agreement with her clients to update the listings and links on her clients' pages. With dozens of clients now, manually creating and removing property pages became incredibly time-consuming. We were asked to create a simple MySQL back-end to simplify the addition and removal of property listings. To keep her costs low, after converting a couple of websites the PHP and Javascript code was moved into her Dreamweaver templates and she was shown how to convert the remaining websites.

Transportation Scheduler
This project involved the creation of an intranet application and software manual for a not-for-profit providing non-emergency medical transportation services. The primary function of the software is to help make appointment feasibility decisions and to create driving schedules given driver availability and client needs. The software also provides management with daily, monthly and yearly reporting. This ASP.NET/VB and MSSQL transportation software replaced a DOS-based DataFlex application.
Convenience Store Industry
Several applications were developed to streamline operations for a client within the convenience store industry with several hundred stores:
- Competitive Fuel Survey: Collects competitors' fuel prices from store managers as well as local store's pump prices directly from POS for use by the corporate office in determining fuel prices. (ASP.Net 2.0/SQL Server 2005 with integrated VB.Net Windows application)
- Cost Accounting: Collects inventory information from store personnel by department for use by corporate office (ASP.Net 2.0/SQL Server 2005)
- Web Forms: a PDF-based application for submission, editing and retrieval of "paperwork" data between store personnel and corporate office. This project eliminated the need for costly courier services to transport paperwork to and from stores and the corporate office. (ASP.Net/SQL Server 2005)

Direct Connect Ghana
Direct Connect is a company which provides services primarily to Ghanaians wishing to help friends and family "back home" by sending gifts, money transfers, paying utility bills or tuition fees, making bank deposits and investments in securities. This project encompassed all functional aspects of the website: back-end order fulfillment application, CartWeaver™ customization, investment security ticker, button design, exchange rate features and all order forms and administrative interfaces.

RedCrossOnlineTraining.Org
This site is the official web-based learning platform for the American Red Cross. Originally launched in 2000, tens of thousands of students train using the site annually. Originally brought in to move existing code into a new layout, my role expanded to include completely redesigning the infrastructure, database schemata (including migration to a different DBMS) and software framework. A windows service was also written to take care of background, non user-driven tasks such as currency exchange rate updates, daily student reminder emails, data backups, and so forth. ASP.NET/IIS/PostgreSQL

IndyRedCrossTraining.Org
Redesign of this website rode on the heels of the RedCrossOnlineTraining.Org project. This site displays information about traditional instructor-led courses and allows registration and online payment for those courses. The Greater Indianapolis chapter provided a layout template within which to work. This was an ASP.NET/C# project.

FeastMaster
FeastMaster is a privately commissioned Windows application written to import recipes obtained from the public domain sources on the Internet and provide ways to access and modify those recipes. The recipe database software features innovative search criteria, ratings, and shopping list creation. The database consists of more than 60,000 recipes. We were able to keep this project within the client's budget by offering to retain ownership of the software and issue licenses as needed.
